Rear shock length question ... (155mm E2E in a 165mm frame)

To the experts here's the question:-

1) Would it be possible to fit a 155mm eye to eye rear shock to a frame that would 'normally' use a 165mm?

2) If it's possible is it advisable and what would the possible consequences be?

Fanks!

Depends on the frame, but it will affect the suspension performance. For a start, your rear wheel's travel path won't start or end in the same place and it might cause the rear triangle to hit the frame because of this. Rather get the right shock for the frame.

Thanks man, so then we''ll rather not consider it .... the search for a 165mm continues :)

Have been a few going here Big B, there was a DT Swiss one this week from a Scott than was 165mm for R1500

Problem is one also needs the right spacers for your frame.

I am currently in the market as well, though tending towards a new Fox CTD
