In a recent attempt at flight during the omni-motion this weekend, i lost the cadence sensor from a Garmin 305 - the sensor part that is attached to the pedal (I still have the GSC10 module).

Is it possible to just get the cadence sensor on its own? If so, where? I checked on easygis, and the closest I can find to it is http://www.easygis.co.za/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_135_136_212&products_id=800 - is that the sensor I am looking for?

The GSC10 is the sensor. The bit on the crank is just a magnet. The link you posted is the correct part, but any magnet that is reasonably strong will work, you might just have to jury-rig a mount for a normal magnet.

the polar sensors are quite nice, you get a long piece of tape which you put the magnet under and wrap it around your crank arm

ok cool, I'll check it out. I had the sensor tied on with a cable tie, but it snapped off during the bail.

I have the GSC10 speed/cadence sensor and all I've done is put a small, reasonably strong magnet (around the size of a 10c piece) from an old fridge magnet onto where the pedal screws into the crank arm. Fits snuggly and works perfectly. Give it a try.

I always mount the magnet in the pedal hex hole using epoxy. Just find the strongest magnet you can that measures about 5mm round by 8mm long and stick it the hole and epoxy it in. Never falls out. And no cable ties around the crank. So unsightly that.

Only hassle is if you want to remove the pedal, I have had to drill the epoxy to get an allen key in once or twice. Of course you could always use PD520 or 540 pedals that have a 8mm internal hex and a 15mm external wrench.
