Riiiight so I can't fly.... I tried and I failed :(

Will be six weeks in the cast so was thinking walking on the treadmill and LSD on a spin bike - want to do this in a gym cos of the aircon as I don't think I want to work up too hectic a sweat as it will be a fixed cast ( think eeuw factor...)

Any one else had same issue and can offer some advice please?

Bummer. I know what sweat and a cast smells like. Frikken horrible.

I bust my wrist. I eventually couldnt take the indoor trainer anymore.

Went to my GP. He put a lighter and smaller cast on.

I rode my roadbike like that, Was pretty painfull at times.

MTB was out of the question.

I eventually got the moer in and cut the cast off.

Not a very wise decision.

I still get pain in the wrist today.

I think the bottom line is... wait it out. It happens and it has happened. Let nature run its course and do a decent repair.

Good luck

Enjoy the rest!! I have had my shoulder repaired, arm has now been in a sling for 3 weeks, 1 to go. Against doc's orders- I have managed 7 hours a week on the stat trainer. I have 4 slings for my arm as I sweat up a flood.

I suspect it's an age thing. In me 20's I rode a dirt bike in a leg cast from a smashed knee and a body cast from a few crushed vertebrae. Both doctors had said "you'll never ride again". I went on and competed in enduro's and the Roof without too much harm. I did do the prescribed exercises.

Now I just tweak a finger, hand, foot, knee or back and I'm very cautious. Lives have been used up.

I'm very miffed with myself - cos if I could have climbed back on and finished the ride I wouldn't be dealing with confidence issues either at the end of my six weeks.

Had also got myself to a fair level of fitness and having just done H&B knew where I needed to improve. Had also just gone for a proper bike fit and felt really good and strong. Sorry just ranting (let's not talk about the weekends plans either :( ) I will take it easy and when the pain subsides will start slow and not take any chances

Not sure how bad the break is when my wrist broke (only one of the two bones) I managed to convince the fifth doc I pleaded with to remove the cast and I then used those strap on casts which I showered with after training and then put the second dry one on all worked very well and only time I was out of the cast was after shower when I swopped them.q

Hmmm Tjokkits. It's still quite painful but you have given me food for thought - I just want to be sure the bones have started to knit before I get too adventurous but may look into one of those braces. The lat thing ones wants is complications later cos I rushed things... Thanx for the stories guys :)
