Duties on helmets and shoes

Hi Guys. Does anyone know what duties I will pay if I order a mountain bike helmet and shoes from Chain Reaction. Thanks

I think helmets are about 25% and shoes 40% (excluding admin fees and price customs puts on the shipment value)

Rand vs pound is not doing so well. Even on components which only have an extra 15-16% I found CWC to be cheaper.

Nope. Shoes are 40% PLUS 15.5% VAT on that amount.

Yeah, shoes are 40% since it falls under clothing/textiles.

 

Shoes and helmets are rarely worthwhile to import yourself, unless it's on a major special.

Just imported a Bell helmet, no duties were charged, it was delivered today. So price with DHL express delivery was R850.00, closest price locally was R1650.00. Ordered on Thursday, delivered today, it is a no brainier...

But don't take my word for it - there are a few Hubbers that works at customs as well as clearing agents on here.

Ye its win 1 lose 1 ,like my CRC order today just parts no charge whatsoever,no clearance nada ,but the last helmet i ordered from crc i got hit 35%+14% but i got it so cheap on sale it was still way under the price here.
