Hey peeps

I gots a problem and need some help... Last night I got new avid Elixer 5 brakes, but when I wanted to install them they wouldn't fit on the exact same brackets I just took the old Shimano's off of...

Pics are of front and of rear... are there specific avid brackets? or what? Im running a 180mm rotor front and a 160mm rotor rear....

Appreciate any help fanx guys

its because the spacers are wrong, the shimano spacers are slightly different to the ones needed for avid breaks, there are a few small differences such as the space between the holes, angle of the caliper mount etc. some brakes will fit no problem but others you will need to get the correct caliper spacers

You need spacers like these

They should have come with the brakes.

If you dont have the spaces use washers, I had to as the LBS did not have the mounts so I had to improvise.

That will work, stack height should be about 5mm if I recall correctly

I wasnt too sure of the height so I took some chalk and marked the rotor, spun the wheel, braked and then I could see where the pads were sitting relative to the rotor.
