gripen Posted October 10, 2013 Share Yip, looks like R120 no matter which race or how many races you do. I'm then going to look at the 1500m as a time trial for 5150 the weekend after.. just need some wetsuit compatriots to kick (me) in the face
travisza Posted October 11, 2013 Share Has anyone done this swim before? Whats the water temperature likely to be? Ifs its around 25 or so a wetsuit will get pretty warm after a while.
gripen Posted October 11, 2013 Share I've done it a few times. Around this time of year, I would expect around 18-19 deg. There haven't been big rains + floods, so visibility will be good. Since when does the temperature matter... wetsuit is wetsuit :-) It's not like it stops helping you if the temperature is higher

No it was more that if the water was warm a wetsuit would get uncomfortable. below 20 is perfect for a wetsuit

dracs Posted October 14, 2013 Share OK, so the final word after Glynis and Kate had a chat... Apparently for this Heia Safari 26th and 27th October is not being used as a seeding event for Midmar Mile.So you may swim in wetsuits for this one only. All the rest are seeding events. Sorry about that, lack ofCommunication.RegardsGlynis

scottm Posted October 24, 2013 Share I'm registered for the 1500m, don't think I can do a 3KM yet, first time I'll be swimming in a wetsuit.
Stiggy Posted October 24, 2013 Share Good luck guys! Sounds like a good event, a little bummed I can't be there.Remember to lube that neck or use some tape between your neck and the top of your new wetsuit as it tends to chafe there.
scottm Posted October 24, 2013 Share Cool, I've got some Bodyglide but haven't heard of the tape idea. What tape do you use and where do you put it? On the back of your neck?
Stiggy Posted October 24, 2013 Share Kinesio tape works well. Put its on the side you breathe, from about below your ear to the back.
