Have not ridden them, I know they are a bit lighter BUT, the extra weight on the Concepts come from the reinforced braking track that prevents overheating and failures. They also have a two year warranty (as opposed to one year for Darkhorse and BlackSpade), that in itself is reason to go with Concept, as that shows that they have faith in their product and when it comes to crabon wheels, to me, that is an important factor

The below link will show you the difference between the usual braking track and the track on Concept wheels.

In fact, i enjoy these wheels so much that i am going to get a set of the "new" profile (not allowed to say much about it CCD will announce once they are done with the design :) ) that they are working on to make their wheels even more aero, that ill use for racing only while i use these for everyday training and riding. clap.gif

Are they quiet(freewheel) or also noisy like most carbon wheels in the market today. I'll probably look at buying in Mar having a somewhat of a bonus coming through. Maybe the "new" profiles will be available. Thanks for your input makes ones decision easier when u read reviews from independent users

Thx guys, try and post the info i would have been looking for if somebody else was doing a review thumbup1.gif

@Riamich - They are loud'ish(which i prefer), sound about the same as a Hope Evo2 hub (mentioned in the review) remember the hollow structure of the rim and carbon also amplifies the sound. You won't be disappointed, maybe contact CCD and ask him for a demo set you can test before you buy - it will make you feel a whole lot more secure a bout your purchase too.

Hi

I bought a set of Concepts from CCD. What a stunning set of wheels. Very stiff and spin up brilliantly. CCD customised them to what I wanted red nipples and 1 red spoke on the drive side. The wheels are absolutely bullet proof. I'm a big boy 6'3" 119kg, and have been measured a 1380w. I've abused the wheels and they've not needed 1 true in 2000km of hard use. The hubs sound awesome, only downside is I cant suck wheel in silenceph34r.png

I'm buying myself a new set later this year (in blue thanks CCD).

For me the most importnt part of the CCD experience is the brilliant service I recieve from him.

Top product from a top guy.

Hi Look

Thats my old bikecursing.gif my bloody frame cracked on the drive side chain stay. I've got a Giant TCR now and hence the need to buy a new wheelset to match my new bike.

I will PM you my number if you would like to ask me anything. I can't reccomend CCD enough.

I am quite keen to see what the new rim shape will look like and how it will perform. If these wheels are as good as advertised, why buy Zipp or Enve which cost nearly 3x as much? Are they that much better or stronger?

I dont think they are stronger at all, just do a google and you will see... Most of the top brands use the same T700 carbon too. The thing is for 3x the price do the Zipps/Enve/Bora etc. give you 3x the performance over the Concepts? Most definitely not!

@Marvin - I must agree, the service from CCD is fantastic thumbup1.gif

Could have been a picture of my bike that. Hope I do not get the same crack but I guess if it still Ok it should not happen, Maybe I am a bit below the 1380W. Only 85kg as well.

I knowmine is strong , went through big pothole once in a race, was 100% certain the wheel will be damaged felt Ok and I continued, after the race inspected and could not find any marks.

I didnt crack because of my weight. I dropped my chain times and i pedalled to try and pick it up without stopping and I think that had abit of a "chainsaw"effect against the frame. If I could pick another RC8000 i would buy it in a heart beat. Absolutely loved that bike.

Thanks for the great review! Where can I get an idea of the prices these wheel sets are going for? Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for
