From my perspective, I think the Scout Hall line is more geared towards a jump bike as opposed an AM or DH bike as the rake of the jumps is far higher than that of the Hurlingham line.

Whilst the scout hall line is more fun on a jump bike, it is perfectly doable on an AM bike and even a DH bike.

Yes, the jumps are steeper than Hurlingham, but they're still not nearly as steep as proper dirt jumps (like the ones at the Vlei, Boksburg).

Nolipoli is perfectly at home there on his Reign. I've done it on my 6.6. I learnt to jump it on a DH bike. Dogma333 has done the first 2 on his hard tail XC bike.

So don't be shy (all you AM bike riders), you'll be fine at the Scout Hall.

Hey, what are you doing on the hub at 4:58am??? tongue.png

I would be far more comfortable doing the scout hall line if the jumps didnt look like this; / | |

Come up short on those things and I don't think it will be pretty.

Damnit!! my drawing didnt work out - anyway, what I'm saying is, theres a whole lot of nothing in between those doubles and if you dont clear them I think its gonna end badly!

...Maybe I've just become a sissy :)

haha! You look at the gaps and see the potential for failure. I see an incentive to succeed.

As a bit of reassurance… if you don't clear those doubles you'll be going so slowly you wouldn't hurt yourself anyway. The landings at the Scout Hall are very generous, it really is a very forgiving line. Just say "fuggit" and try it. The moment you clear it you'll realise how insanely easy it is and you'll kick yourself for not having tried sooner.

Yup! this man speaks the truth! There's a rather generous safety on 2,3, & 4

Yup, Scout Hall line is definitely jumpable on an AM bike. Just roll the first jump a couple times and begin to hit it faster & faster as your confidence grows (you may also have to slow your shock rebound down a click or 2). if you clear the 1st jump you'll have more than enough speed for the rest of the line.

It took me a little while to get used to jumping the Heckler on the Scout Hall jumps but now they a great addition to the afternoon commute home.

And enough time to bail out?

More than enough time. You can exit to the right with no issue (before each of the jumps).

I usually 'warm up' by hitting 1 a couple times before committing to the rest of the line

I have no idea where you guys are talking about on the Spruit... Is there a map or something so I know what to look out for next time smile.png

If you happen to ride down bryanston area and some mounds of dirt (with tyre tracks), they're probably dirt jumps, be it scout hall or, just down from the big pick n' pay, Hurlingham (I've got a great relationship with the landing of the 3rd). Helped? whistling.gif
