The bike is stripped, parts ready for powder coat, paint and chrome, though I cannot get the front fender chopped until I've got the fork built, and it will also need to be powder coated.

Wanted to chop the rear fender, but found that the front works perfectly on the back, without any cutting needed. So the rear will be cut to make a front fender.

Triple clamp forks are the biggest challenge at the moment. They are available to import, and not even that expensive, but the shipping from the States is more than double the price of the fork. I think though that today I found a solution that will work, with some steel tube, clamps off a pit bike and some cutting and welding.

The build stalled a little, whilst trying to source some suitable triple clamps (also known as yokes). Finally managed to find some, in a box of bits in the back corner of a motorbike shop. Not sure what they came off, but they have a 1" steerer, and the width between the fork legs will (just) work:

Some engineering is required, to shorten the steerer, and remove all of the tabs that are not required. This will also lighten them up a little, as they are rather heavy.

Tomorrow, I pick up some 4130 Chromoly tubing to build the legs, and then I can draw up the fork ends and disk brake plate, to be laser cut.

Aaaah now this is MY kinda thread :w00t:

Nice one stretchy

Keep the pics coming

Think I should learn how to upload pics from my phone/iPad, whipping out the laptop every time I want to post pics is a pain in the ar$e...

Also looking for an auto trimmer who can recover the saddle. Want some weathered leather with nice stitching. There are some guys at the airport, will stop in there tomorrow when I collect the chromo.

Again, a delay, argh! The 2 pieces of 4130 1 1/8" tubing I found for the fork were sold before I could pick them up. Supplier is now sourcing more, with a slightly thicker wall thickness, which is probably a good thing. Oh well, no rush to finish the build, tubing should be here in 2 weeks.

Feel your pain bru but as you say, no use rushing these things. I believe in doing it right or not at all. No use spending bucks and all the effort and going half ass at it.

Sure its gonna be rocking when its done

Nice bike ideas. I have been trying to get my cruiser into shape, nearly there. triple clamp forks from old downhill crown.

Three speed with back pedal so will have no clutter. Gear shift has been put onto top tube. Still some way to go. Good luck with your project!

That's a very cool build so far, what did you use for the fork legs?
