I have access to one of these.

are you supposed to be able to change resistance as you would on a normal stationary bike? it has an "attachment" which is supposed to do the trick - connects to the handlebar but there's not any noticeable difference when adjusting that.

if someone has some pointers or if you can point me to a DIY video so i can check if I'm setting this up correctly would be grateful.

I use the same one. When setting it up, be sure that the resistance on the adjuster is set to L (Low). You then tighten it quite a bit to apply pressure onto the back wheel, I also pump the rear wheel to about 9-10Bars. It works for me and I can definitely feel the difference when increasing the resistance.

If it stays on the same constant strength and it prety tough then you have over tightened it onto the wheel.
