I think that zipp should add something like a "watermark" unto their rims so that joe public can identify the genuine from the fake :thumbup:

 

I wonder, with the original zipps if you look at that in the sun or a certain angle they appear another colour like a brownish colour. Maybe? Maybe its just the zipps I've seen... Maybe this can be it? Anyone else notice this?

this is the main reason why i dont like to buy second hand bikes or components. rather buy from an authorised dealer and hope they dont buy fake stuff from China as well :ph34r:

Like sourcing genuine zipp hubs and lace them to fake zipp rims? :eek:

My statement of dimples was wrong and I appologise as you do get dimpled wheels/rims from our good chinese friends. Thanks to a fellow hubber who pointed this out to me. Here are some pics of the offending rim. Spot the differences

Would you trust that braking surface in the first pic when descending at >80km/h?

I wouldn't.

 

That last pic looks like a actual Zipp rim,if not then it's a good copy.

So glad there s Guys who knows the difference between fakes and geniune , My knowledge is not good where and what to look for if buying such items , This seller would off caught Me out big time , Hahaha bet he s pissed off :clap:

 

That's why i put this thread up.He would have caught someone and most likely still will on Gumtree or the likes.

Nothing wrong with buying used but if you unsure load some photos and ask for advice.

Have you seen what a set of Zipp hubs cost?You won't be making much profit.
