I do many conversions like this at home and have never had a problem. Even thru axle to 9mm conversions and vice versa on wheels.... Im currently running a SRAM X9 crank with a Shimano BB. OD on them is 41mm and OD on BB30 is 42mm so you will need to take up the 1mm "gap" which is easily achieved using some copper shim stock But yeah that will probably not work
