329 all the way bro!

Although the Momsen 329 has a SRAM X7 & X5 gearing combo whereas the Silverback Spectra 2.0 has Shimano XT and SLX.

So surely the Silverback is better spec'd from the component perspective at least?

Where do you ride and what kind of riding are you planning on doing? That will help narrow it down alot.

There was a bit of a 26er DS vs 29er HT thread that had some good advice over here

I don't do technical stuff, as I am completely new to this... Like I said, 95% of the time I am on the road, trying to be active / healthy. I do have friends that go mountain biking every second weekend, and I am not part of that clan. I need something that can jump a curb (do a single track once in 2 months) :-), and most of all something comfortable... The better the equipment the nicer it will be, as I am I snob when it comes to stuff like this...

The Silverback Spectra is a 26" not a 29er.

Any brand or at least most are good. Find a bike that suits your measurements/geometry and you also need to feel comfortable and confident on it.

The only reason I said AL329 R type is that you get a set of R6000 rims on it which is also favored when trying to sell, you get a set of snakeskin tyres which also saves you R1100 and you get an air shock, even though it's entry level that's where you can now upgrade.

Get any other brand for around R11k and you'll need to get the R6k rims, R1.1k tyres and if you're lucky you'll get an air shock.

It's give and take, trade-offs one needs to consider. Just do your research thoroughly before buying otherwise you're going to end up selling it quickly to get something else.

You're riding def sounds more 29er style.

I'd look at a Momsen (and PS I have a Merida1-20)

Aren't we all!

I'd still say the Momsen for the reasons put out above. The rims are a big drawing card as is the shock. No need for a DS in your case and I'd say you're going to be in 9er territory for sure (though never seen anyone bunny hop a curb on a 9er!).

Maybe look at a Momsen 529 second hand, well spec'd and there are a lot of very good condition ones coming on the market now - plus they look trick with the red and grey paint work.
