I'd say it's a questionable practice to do that, if it's a matter of life or death (which a medivac implies) then how can they not cover you.

Bring it up with your medical.

Ok well my policy says the following:

 

We Will Pay

2.6 medical expenses being the reasonable cost of medical attendance upon you, including operation fees, prescribed medicines and sugical appliances and nursing home or hospital charges, necessarilly incurred in connection with any accident for which compensation is payable under 2.2.1 to 2.2.5 above R5000

Beware the fine print!!!!!!!!

Several Medical aids have clauses which exclude cover if you are injured while participating in professional sport!

SweatSafe is supposed to be the cover for this type of activity, however, and I quote:

"Finally we draw your attention to the exclusion of hospital expense cover for Professional Sportspeople injured while participating or training in thier professional sports code"

Apparently then you have to apply for the ER24 ResQ cover!

If you are a licenced rider in cycling, are you now classified as a Professional?????

I saw that Joevan, I also don't know what there definition of a Professional sports person is? All cyclist has to have a license these days so I don't think that counts, maybe if you race in one of the TDF teams you are a professional or do overseas races?
