I bought a second hand merida tfs 500 29er for my wife

The bike is 18 month old frame cracked on the down tube

Gave merida a call and they say no claim. It's clearly a manufacturers fault

Just insured a second hand Rocky Mountain, replacement value is 30k and I am paying R130pm which I have been advised is comprehensive ie theft from house, bike rack etc and/or damaged during a race/casual ride.

Sent my broker proof of my payment together with copy of proof of purchase provided by original owner. Think it depends on your insurer though.

This should be added to a "Used Bike Buyers Guide".

With the cost involved and amount of torture MTB's go through you need to know that you have some form of cover. Time to give my broker a shout.

I guess it also depends on who you bought the bike from. I had a derailer go through my spokes during my 45 day 'all breakage' window and the shop sorted it out for me without doing anything more than checking the PoP.

Quite right....finished and klaar.....hopefully the question never gets asked again

Yea, because the last thing we would want is some n00b asking for a bit of advice. Anyway, questions like that should be posted in some form of Buyers Guide... hang on!
