Your problem does sound like a maintenance issue and bleeding should get everything back to normal.

 

Something out of left field.

 

Brake hoses flex / expand under pressure.

Although, the flex is tiny, the rear hose has more flex over it's entire length compared to the front.

 

Hence all the fancy / high cost braided brake hoses, etc.

 

I have never been able to get my rear brake to feel as "solid" as the front.

no bleeding needed, was an adjustment screw setting and now all back to normal - Donovan on CC was great - nice to get good service from an LBS for a change
