I'm happy to say that I will be collecting my first proper MTB at the end of the month. I'm asking my fellow Hubbers for advise on which Bib shorts to buy... I'm looking to spend less than 1k. The options out there seem endless but I have no clue how to distinguish the good from the bad from an online pic.

What should I be looking for from them and what are the best places to buy it?.

If there are any links to old threads please let me know.

Bibs are unfortunately trial and error. (as with most things cycling)

There is generally a fair relation between price and quality.

That said, price doesn't necessarily equate to comfort.

Sorry, but there's no easy answer to your question imo.

Less tha R1k probably means the upper models of local brands (Cape Storm, First Ascent, Anatomic, Velotex, Panda etc), or the entry level European stuff (Nalini, Santini etc).

Thanks for your response guys. I've also been looking at some Baggie shorts, has anyone had a bad experience with these as they don't have over shoulder straps ?.
