Is there anyone else out there that has a similar issue?

When I do a session (1 hour or so) on my IDT, my "sit bones" start hurting and the session becomes a lot less pleasant than it should be. However I can do a normal out ride for 3/4 hours and not have any problem like this?

Is it because I am in 1 position for the whole time (not moving around on the saddle etc) or could it be a possible change in the angle of the bike when it is on the trainer?

Any advice would be appreciated?

Change in position is what I do. I ride during the week between 1h 30min - 2h on my indoor trainer per day. Sometimes I ride on the drops, on the hoods en also on the top of the bar...it seems to work well. Also make sure your bike is level. I do most my winter training on my IDT.

As mentioned above, bike needs to be level, some IDT trainers comes with front wheel support, or as Tacx calls them a Skyliner. Before I had my Tacx I used a wooden block with my Giant trainer. If you ride with a saddle that is level, it's easy to try different objects underneath the wheel until the bike is level. Some IDT trainers take things even further with an incline setting to simulate the gradient of a hill, so also try to make it a bit higher for those "Hill" repeats as a variation.
