Hi Fellow hubbers,

I was hoping there is a person that knows what he or she's doing when it comes to video editing etc.

I went to the tour de France and got some nice video taken from handy cam.. beforehand i was told that one can always pull still photos from that as its full HD and quality would be great!

Thing is now i can get a program to break the video up in frames so i can get stills from it. Im using a samsung H400 video camera and it seems that the video is compressed also, so that means when playing video on my PC is is some what smudgy (mind spelling) and even i i pause its not clear. I tried like 5 programs and "nero 7" was the only one playing it right.

But thing is i cannot get photos from it, if i do print screen it saves and later if i open it the screen is completely green with lines through it... Its a Full HD video and shoots at 30 frames per second so i would think i could get 30 clear pictures from it per second..right?

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated !

"30 clear pictures from it per second..right?"

Not quite. Most cameras shoot interlaced frames, which means it actually only shoots 30 half-frames per second, and the half is made up of every second horizontal line of pixels. Also, full HD does mean it is a certain size but says almost nothing about the quality, which depends more on the size and quality of the image-sensor. Also, small handycams do tend to compress video farily harshly, hence you can get so many hours of footage on the drive.

A better option to try extract stills is to use editing software. You can export frames more accurately and you can deinterlace the footage. If you know anyone who edits they will most likely be able to help. But ya, editing software is your best bet.
