Total cost? R1700?

If DHL didn't add a R150 handling fee price would have been close to local shops. Still don't quite get where that charge cane from, but I'll raise it when I get the shoes first.

it's a standard DHL charge. If you ship via Parcelforce then EMS will charge you a handling fee too, It's just way less (R30 per box)

The box lifters at DHL must have a good union, with medical for all those times they lift wth their backs and not with their knees.

Your thoughts on the Impact low?

Wayne, They are a heavy duty shoe aimed mainly at the DH AM guys. Strong but heavy. Specifically for flat pedals. Getting mine next week just just in time for the WC. Will let you know how they go.

Mine are going on 4 years old now. They've done 3 Alps trips and multiple trips through the washing machine and are still going strong. I even use them on build days. They are starting to get a little tatty now and might need replacing at some point.

The grip when new is phenomenal. Almost too grippy. They aren't great looking but they are the standard bearer for flat mtb shoes.

I got them through mountain mail order.

Got a pair at city rock this morning after reading this review. Paid 1625.00. The shoes are really comfortable. Going riding in very wet Jonkershoek this afternoon. Should be fun...

That's excluding customs and VAT @ 49% hey?

Yebo. Have to remember that our cycling budget needs to cover three riders in the family. So have to save as much as possible in order to get all we require.

No 12's though in the Freeriders though :(

Nope. Just had a 6 and 10.5 in the Freeriders. The salesman said they are waiting for the next shipment.

He had 12's in the impact and hellcat ranges. I usually wear 11/12 depending on the brand but these 11's fit perfectly. Hellcat also looked like a nice shoe. But the soles are extremely stiff so I don't think they'll be great for hike-a-bike.

Hellcats are an SPD shoe anyway, so their sole isn't as grippy as the Impacts / freeriders.

And I tried a 12 in the Impacts. They fitted, but I just couldn't get past the fact that they looked like rosie o donnell on a 2 month food binge...
