Actually the Breakaway route seems an easier way to go

Just toying with the idea of a "breakdown" travel MTB.

 

i.e. break it down put in suitcase, reassemble on the other side.

 

So it would need to "break" on the downtube and toptube. Like this

Something like the Ritchey Breakaway might also work

I don't think those are successful. Maneuvering a bunch of frame parts without kinking the cables is neigh impossible. A 26" frame without its wheels is already pretty small, especially if you remove the bars and loosen the rear jockey from its anchor.

That puppy has to be collapsible otherwise it is a looooong Thule on a roofrack.

 

It is. you can choose to have a dual tandem or a triple, quad or quint.

I don't think those are successful. Maneuvering a bunch of frame parts without kinking the cables is neigh impossible. A 26" frame without its wheels is already pretty small, especially if you remove the bars and loosen the rear jockey from its anchor.

I would be quite worried about the last picture. Would worry about that clamp and mountain biking.

Not sure if it will be strong enough...

Cable come apart no need for kinking.
