Mavic Deemax Ultimate. Pretty damn good wheelset but k@k expensive.

Did you see the wheel failure that lanky Brit Josh Brycelan had: in the final? Spokes pulled out the rim

Yup. My heart skipped a beat when I saw that cos I have that same wheelset. Except I don't ride anywhere near as hard as him so I reckon I'm safe.

yup! as the Others have said, Sam and The Claw use Deemax Ultimate.

They are good, but for the price, I feel one could get a way better wheelset.

Also, they are a 'racing' wheelset. ie. they're made from a softer metal so that they're less likely to unseat the UST tyre during a race run. All fine and well if you're sponsored. If you pay for them yourself... ouch! Oh, and they use Mavic hubs... not my favourite.

But yeah... if it's the yellow that caught your eye... then you can also try these

Nuke Proof Generators. They use Sun Ringle rims. Available as rim only so that you can lace to a hub of your choice. Way WAY cheaper than Deemax.

Or if you don't run a big heavy DH bike but still want tough yellow wheels...

try get your paws on these...

Mavic Crossmax Enduro. Basically the Deemax's little brother.

What is rather interesting is noting how many WC riders are on the Spank Spike Race (28mm) rims.

Ja. All the ones that can't afford deemax...

Actually.

All the teams that can't afford ENVE run Deemax. And all the ones that can't afford Deemax run Spank.

Meow.

Interesting that the Nukeproof team don't run Nukeproof wheels.
