Had this head cold for 1 1/2 weeks and I am at the stage with blocked sinuses and green snot but don't feel bad, just a tiny bit under the weather.

Can I do a 70 MTB this weekend which I have already entered hoping I would be done with this germ?

I have read somewhere here guys asking about the Flu which I now is not a good idea, but just a cold I am not sure.

I thought I just had a head cold for the Tourdekrantz last weekend and after 35ks (very muddy) it felt like I had ridden 135k and by the end I just wanted to go to sleep. It felt like I had only 10% of my normal power. On Sunday it turned into a moerse flu.

It's a chance you take, maybe it will be nothing more than a cold but the exertion could lower your resistance and end up with something worse. In hinds sight I should have stayed home in bed....

Can? Yes. Should? No.

This is always such a briliant answer in so many situations. You 'can' do whatever you want. But more often than not you shouldn't.

So glad I never went.

I thought today I would do a small ride to loosen the legs after 8 days of not cycling and my Heart Rate was way over normal.

I eventually gave up when going up one steep section and I hit 191 for something I normally do at 178 when pushing hard.

Off to the doc tomorrow for some A.B's to get rid of this lingering germ - such a p.i.t.a these colds as I haven't been sick in about two years.

Missed two races already and feeling lazy and my muscles I am sure are wasting away.

A.B's don't touch viral illnesses....only reduce the risk of a secondary bacterial infection - get into bed for 2 days, stay off the bike for 5 and you will be fine...

And if you do take antibiotics (trust your doc's advice) - add a probiotic twice a day for a couple of weeks at least - and check that whatever he prescribes is NOT a fluoroquinolone based drug - your tendons will thank me.

I rode with a headcold which turned into meningitis because of it. Not fun.

Nope - you had meningitis... riding had nothing to do with it - the early symptoms of meningitis are flu like...

Sometimes creates a rather disastrous mistake - put kids to bed with a headache and flu type symptoms.. don't wake up in the morning...

Riding played a big role, I rode really hard and smashed my immune system, the neurologist said it can just hop over from your nose to your menengies given the right environment.
