jatho Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 I had to do that this morning, and worth it. Price of a new XX RD = R2500 (plus/minus)Price of L+R XT Shifters AND XT Shadow+ RD = R2200. Logic. The point of my topic was not to have a debate about whether or not Shimano is better than SRAM, thehub is littered with topics on that feel free to comment at will there, my logic in this instance would be to replace an inexpensive jockey wheel before spending R2200 on new shifters and RD.
EZRider Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Sorry for the jack, we were just having a little fun.
Schnavel Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Jatho, My dad's XX RD was doing the exact thing. Replaced the jockey wheels with a set of aonx (something like that from cwc) fixed the problem.
Dr Drey Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Had the same problem on my mates XX.....There is a pin which holds the cage to the derailleur. This pin wears and the spring jumps a position, making the cage very slack=chain slap.Striped and re-assemble and it's been perfect.Haven't found a replacement pin yet.
Clinton - theCOW Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I have the exact same issue, mostly happens when i'm in the small chain ring. 1.5 years ago as a new RD, worked like a bomb, now i have the tension pulley issue. I haven't tried changing the wheels yet, will be interesting to know. For now, i'm going to put a cable tie on the side it keeps jumping to to reduce the gap so the chain won't fit and go back to the pulley wheel Roadie fix to a MTB problem or have i officially become a MTBer
