If cleaning your drive train is such a chor.........then you’ve left it too late. A light clean with one of mommy’s old towels and tool in a can after each ride. Basically spraying the towel, and then running the chain through the towel. Most of these spray “lubricants” are paraffin based and make fantastic degreasers. Light application of dry lube to the chain........and not soaking the cassette also helps. A full strip once a year.....pull cassette apart and derailleur jockeys, paraffin wash chain. Works for me

Agreed Divernick Used the H14 for the last 5 36Ones.......brilliant product Just got my leatherman and other H14 back from a service.....brilliant service The tilt-mech broke from horrendous abuse on my H14.....they replaced it.

It's a MENTAL race.......not a physical one! It's good to know the pain of sitting on a sadle for 24+ hours. The problem is.......once you've done 1......you'll be back again and again. Love this RACE!

Survived both on coffee and rusks.... Break it up into managable pieces...60 or 80km and go-go-go. Be carefull not to pace yourself with the rellay boys....those guys go like the clappers!

Had the same problem on my mates XX..... There is a pin which holds the cage to the derailleur. This pin wears and the spring jumps a position, making the cage very slack=chain slap. Striped and re-assemble and it's been perfect. Haven't found a replacement pin yet.

We still road from the mall to the caravan park......froze what was left of my ass off! Really felt for the guys that were still out there. There were still 4 teams out when we went for breakfast at 8 this morning.......big balls guys!

You can try a dry pair of shoes at each checkpoint.......but eventualy you just give up and Ride! The less time spent stressing about cold feet = faster time = less time in the Cold & Dark Baviaans Kloof!

I had to retire my trusty Giordanas after 3 years of abuse! Haven't found anything that comes close to them......even at twice the price!
