NotSoBigBen Posted August 20, 2013 Share While out riding my training road bike I was thinking what a 'frankenstein' group set it has .... Shifters - 10sp UltegraFD - 105RD - 105Chain - KMC out of an MTB build kitCrank - Ultegra with 9sp FSA chainringsCassette - SRAM (not sure what 'model') Somehow it all works together OK ........ Clearly not the rather expensive OG1090 (red or black) one that makes a resounding cacophony RRRRRRRRRRRR noise I'm going to try the standard 10spd PG-1070 and see if its quieter, just need to find a shop that has one in stock.... SwissVan Posted September 2, 2013 Share Its the dome of the rear combined gears, it works as an amplifier for drive-train noise. Update: Definitely the Red Cassette that was noisy Replaced my Red Cassette with a standard SRAM cassette and its much quieter, first tried a few km's with the old chain (Shimano HG) still on and it was dead quite, then put a new Sram chain and its really quite, now I'm looking forward to riding without hearing a whole orchestra of teeth whiRRRRing behind me the whole way...
