Spoke count on the 105 hibs will be too low

How so, the hubs come in 32 or 36 hole.

I am talking about a conventional "old school" type hub, not a factory build 105 wheelset.

Check the weight limits according to Shimano's website.

My suggestion of tandem wheels is based on most being 40 spoke and stronger hubs. If money is to be spent, rather get something to last.

Ok I get what you trying to say, thought you were talking about the std. off the shelf shimano wheelset.

Maybe Tandem wheels are the way for him. Maybe JB could comment.

Tandem wheels will definitely work...with some modification.

A tandem rear wheel is 145mm wide whereas a road bike rear wheel is 130mm wide. However, the Shimano tandem wheel is supplied with a convenient set of spacers that can be removed to do trick. That will definitely be the world's strongest wheel, strong enough for the Vleis Visagie quad.

Can anyone with the skills and expertise advise if these wheels would work for this Hubbers requirements.

I'm asking as I'm sure we can get another initiative of the ground considering the financial burden.......

Those are Mavic Aksium's, they will definitely not work for a big guy. It would be a total waste of money.

Trust me they would break within a few weeks.

Regarding postage, I had some wheels sent down from Joburg to Durban, cost me R230.00
