Stepped out runner vs cyclist - YOH!

So this morning me and BBB do our long hill repeats on Comaro (you soufern okes know the one eh EWEP, ok so ex soufern!).

I decide it will be cool to start in 4th then proceed into uncharted territory in 5th and then 4th and 3rd gears. Now it is a pretty tough climb but ja it's do-able.

On the 3rd rep we pass a young man running up in his full work step outs including his step out shoes and we casually continue up the hill, lo and behold as we get about 3 quarters of the way up he comes running past and ............... no it's not possible to accelerate when you're in 4th gear and on the balancing edge on the bike at 5.783kph!

But it was a great morning out and lights front and back are definitely required at 5 am already.

Yep, have done this hill a few times it is really a tough one. The one that goes up to Bassonia from the circle at Builders w/house past Renault & Peugeot is also a toughy!

Hey ShaunH would you say steeper/longer than the Comaro one? Might be a nice variation for training!

Why do you guys hate it when a runner passes you?

I know it happend to me one time up a mountain pass, but I jogged past a few cyclist as well.  Funny comments you get some times.

Thanks for the laugh BB.

It is steeper but not as long as Comaro. Have to be in the right gear and have to keep momentum otherwise you WILL fall over!!

Cois - runners passing now that's not a problem, happened before but with friggin 'step out shoes'? No that was unnecessary!

ShaunH - will check it out next week Tuesday probably and see how we go, won't start in 4th then if it's that steep ........ thanks for the 'heads up'!

he he he, it's easier to run up a hill than to cycle it!!

WW - Go on you can do it! Want to join us there at 5am every other Tuesday?

Scotty - at 5am in the morning it's fine but LBB has tried it in the afternoon and he reckons it gets a bit scary so I would suggest not.

Ewep - but but but I don't have a valid visa for that area ......

scotty, traffic all over is an issue, but this ride, especially Comaro has room for cyclists. The other one is a narrow road but not busy after Peugeot (+- 350m).

Hey Shaunh' date=' have you been back on your bike yet??

Hey WW, I am starting very soon. In fact I have decide to do a ride to Durban by the end of the year to raise awareness for Sign-Up and to raise some needed funds for signage. Will you help me?

ShaunH - you are right that Comaro does have a great shoulder for the climbing section with lots of space, coming down there is also very little traffic that time of the morning. Works a treat for us.

Scotty - AM doesn't work for you? Too lazy to get out of bed at 4:15am Wink - you girls frilly pink blouse you ........
