Just back from the final route inspection. All route markers are in place. Will do another quick sweep of certain areas very early tomorrow morning to make sure markers have not been tampered with overnight. Trails look good. One muddy patch on the 35/45 km route that may require a “hike-a-bike”.

Just a friendly request to the 45 km riders – you will do two single track sections that have switchbacks – PLEASE do not lock your bike’s brakes in the switchbacks and do not slide your bike’s rear wheel around the switchbacks. If a few hundred riders do this, those switchbacks will be destroyed at the end of the race.

Some advice for the race snakes - you will start climbing within 50 meters of the start, so there will be no opportunity to "warm-up" the legs. Also make sure that you are in the chutes early, as there will be two or three starting batches to prevent bottlenecks on the first climb after the start.

Thx for update. Problem: I can gaurantee my rear wheel not locking on the climbs, but everywhere else it does tend to get out of hand..(Kidding!)

Does the number on our boards give any indication of our starting group? Coz the G on my board would be bad then when I'm used to start in the front! No probs tho if I have to start further down, I'll have fun in anycase!

See you all there! I'll have a black/white striped "Scappa Kit" and ride a black Scott Scale 920 with a white fork and stem

STOPPING!?!? Are you mad! There's a horse-fly warning sent out man! Expect hill climb records klapped with those things chasing us down!

Wow what a fantastic route! Single-track heaven! Didn't have a great start due to the bottle neck on the narrow path and 90deg hill turn but managed a 2h22min on the 45km. Felt the effects of a still lingering cold as well, heavy chest and heavy legs man! But great race and well organised/marked etc, well done.

GREAT EVENT, awesome mix of everything!

The organisers from other events NEED to go and speak to STBB on how to properly stock a water table! WOW, I couldn't help but stop

2:55 for me thank you!

Best organised race I have ever done. Water tables were more like eat all you can eat buffets, biltong, dry wors, everything the heart desires. Also the water points actually had ice ice cold water, not water that has been standing in the sun for 2 hours. Well done guys, everyone I spoke to had a absolutely blast. The draught beer and food stalls after the race was just a bonus. Thanks

Had a fantastic ride - most awesome views and just had to stop at those well-stocked and well-placed water tables! Great marshaling and route signage too. Anybody know if any results will be posted, and where?

Manual results takes a while to load, probably only have them by Tuesday, not sure where tho?

That was awesome - complete change from last weekends blizzard.

Loved the single-track downhills - made up plenty positions when some folk took the outer line on the switchbacks.

Well organised.

Glad to see my time tumbled from the Slanghoek - must have just been a bad race and too little sleep before that one.

Didn't feel like 1500 m climb though - anyone can confirm?
