My dad in PE and at least 1 other person I know of in CPT have bought a new 2013 Spark 910 for around R36k.

You should be able to get a 2013 Epic Comp Carbon for R36k, if you can find the right size. I had one: fantastic bike!

I can't speak about Scott but Specialized after sales service is fantastic.

Generally for Scott/Specialized bikes in the same price bracket, the Scott might be higher specced component wise.

And yes, from what I've heard, there will be less discount available on Specialized bikes from next year.

As dit my geld was sal ek die spez vat. Maar dit is net personal preference...

Ek glo meeste mense sal saamstem. Nie dat daar enigiets fout is met die scott nie, dis ook n fantastiese fiets. Spez is net bietjie spesiaal. :whistling:

If you want the brain system, then go Spez. But you will get a much better specced Scott at the same price as the Spez. The advice everyone always gives, is buy the best components in your price range, so that will be the Scott.

When I was looking in Dec, the Spez Epic comp was about R37k, but is a mix of carbon and Alu. Components were x7 and x9. Nothing fantastic.

Ended up with a Scott Scale 900 RC, yes the hard tail, at R40k but full SRAM XX, and weighing under 10kg's.

I just know, if I bought the Epic Comp, I'd always be wishing I'd bought the Epic S-Works, but different price range completely.

But Olympics were sooooo last year :-)

I did test ride a Spez and loved it. Just couldn't justify the R90k for the S-Works that I want.
