Bobbo_SA Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Thanks for the input hubbers, always appreciated. Although not on the list I was lucky enough to get a good deal on the XT version, will be putting it through its paces in a little while. TopFuel 1
TopFuel Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Nice one Bobbo, The XT version is awesome. I'm really enjoying mine. The reduced noise and chainslap, plus confidence that you're still on the same chainring after a rough bit of track is worth the extra moolah. Just remember to disengage the clutch before removing the wheel.
flat29 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 yes, also disengage the clutch if the bike is not in use
TopFuel Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 yes, also disengage the clutch if the bike is not in use Why do you say so? I haven't been, and I'm interested why you can't leave it on?

flat29 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 it is not a must but it is what i do. You have the friction band that wraps around the clutch when engaged. When you leave it in the on position then the friction band is under stress the hole time. leave it in the relaxed position if you want

Alouette3 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 My thinking would have been that cycling the clutch on and off all the time ( ie. After each ride) would put more stress on the friction band and where it quicker? That being said I had the band on my SLX snap after a couple months, was fixed my Shimano under warranty with no issues. Hope I'm the only one and it doesn't happen again.
