#Roadie no more Posted October 14, 2013 Share Hi, Are there any groups that ride (road) from the above mentioned areas during the week from around 5am? I am struggling to motivate myself to get up at that time to ride alone! Cheers, P

andydude Posted October 14, 2013 Share You can always join the Engen group? I live in Emmarentia and leave the house at 5h and go the opposite route past Adamson and Milner until we meet somewhere around Northcliff Corner then turn around and jump in. Beware they are crazy fast on Tue and Thu, but more relaxed on Wed.
eddy Posted October 14, 2013 Share Or join the Dunkeld ride. Leaving from the Circle outside the vet in Craighall (cnr Buckingham and Clarence - the extension of 1st ave West) at 5 on Wednesdays or 5:15 on Fridays. Both rides come through Emmarentia so you can drop off there on way home if you feel like it but finish at Guru in Parktown North for coffee. V12man Posted October 14, 2013 Share Too much faster actually... If you want to ride fast, you have to train faster..... Actually I think it is just Dunkeld that is slow... There is a 4:45 group from the dam wall too... small and by invite only... but suitable for SS, MTB and medium paced road bikes.

At the traffic lights on Emmarentia dam wall - 0445 - there will be a couple of others too = that's about 200m from the Engen.

When I go and ride ICG, I pass there around 4:40. How far do you ride and pace?
V12man Posted October 14, 2013 Share When I go and ride ICG, I pass there around 4:40. How far do you ride and pace? Depends on how fast you are leaving home... think its about 35 oddHill st, Wicklow, Jan Smuts to the top of Forestown, Oxford, Jellicoe, Bompas, Jns smuts, up Conrad through linden, sometimes up northcliff and back via dam wall - on my SS usually average about 21.x kph from home back to home.
