Event Name: Die Burger PPA Cycle Tour
When: 1 December 2013
Where: Stellenbosch High School, Stellenbosch, Western Cape
Category: Road

Die Burger PPA Cycle Tour takes place on Sunday, 01 December. This popular race is the second-largest cycling event after the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour and will once again start and finish in the heart of Stellenbosch, at Stellenbosch High School in Jannasch Street (off Merriman Street).

The event offers participants the choice of two distances, a 44km and a 97km route. The somewhat easier 44km route offers a scenic ride and is perfect for novice cyclists to use as a training ride in preparation for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour. The much more testing 97km is the final seeding opportunity for the 2014 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour which takes place on Sunday, 09 March 2014.

Entries for the event opened on 16 October 2013. Visit www.dieburgercycletour.co.za for more information.

How difficult is the 97 km? Is the 44 km also for placing in Argus?

The 44km doesn't count for Argus seeding. Only the 97km does.

How difficult is the 97km? (How fit are you? How fast will you go? With what group? Will the wind blow? Compared to what?) Difficult to answer......

On a good day, I think it is perhaps a little easier than the Argus. It is shorter with only 1 big climb, but with more rolling hills. It can also be very hot there and the Southeaster can be severe on the 2nd half. That would make it more difficult than a "good day" Argus.

I am feeling very sick today. If I still feel like this tomorrow, is it better to try or not to cycle the big one at all? I wanted a good seading for Argus........now its over if i cant perform? Is there any other races in WP that would count for a seading? Would they consider the westcoast time? Some advice from the gesoute manne would help?
