Got a ‘Chelino’ baby jogger pram, bearings are pretty toast (It is 2nd hand, but does act as a 3x3 model version often hitting the beach so you can imagine the sand, salt etc in them).

Have tried to find where I can get new bearings for them, been to bearing man, bearing international etc. with no joy. They suggested buying a new pram.

Anyideas?

Only inscription is KENG. No numbers! Outside diameter ~27mm inside ~17mm

Have you tried popping the cover plate out, cleaning and re-greasing them?

Just needs a fine screwdriver and it should pop out fairly easily.

Why don'y you just bush them with something like vesconite, it will handle the sand a bit better.

Except for the lip, it looks like you could replace it with a standard bearing - might be worth a try, as long as it seats fairly firmly it should be ok for a pram.

I did try that, but they are pretty tightly closed!

Try washing the existing grease out without opening them - acetone in a shake bottle - might take overnight, but it will come out. When they spin freely without crunching in your fingers, you are good to go.

Then you can either oil the bearing with light machine oil (bike oil) or try getting grease in through the tiny gap under pressure - using a bearing packer should work if you are patient, or a needle nose grease gun.

Vesconite for the win, failing that, shim them with the standard bearing shim as supplied by your local soft-drink supplier. Or bring them up to JanBoom se Bak en Fietswerke and it will be sorted ;) You need a break anyway.

More seriously, given the light load/duty, you could even "shim" the bearings with Pratleys Plastic steel.
