Try Yoga. I have a friend who is an instructor and she has researched Yoga for cycling for my wife and I.

 

We do lots of stretches and core strengthening work.

 

It's the most effective thing I've tried.

1. buy a bike

2. have it set up properly

3. ride, ride, ride (find a group to ride with. It helps)

 

in that order...

Buy the right bike size with bike fit.

Road cycling is more elegant and less expensive *clears throat*

Get some chommies at a slightly stronger level to roll with so you can quickly grow strength.
