Randpark Ridge / Boskruin Group Rides

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I am looking for regular mid-week early morning road group rides start/finishing close to the above areas.

Hoping to ride at avg speeds at the higher end of the mid 20km/h's (>27km/h)

Eagle Canyon Cycles doesn't know of any rides, referred me to a club but I am not keen on joining another club - I am a happy lab rat

Anything out there?

What do you call early? I can manage 26 once I've woken up ....

4:50/5:00 start, same as E2E group? I used to do a few E2E / ICGs from where I am staying at the moment, and then ride out there + a few extra kms (leave at 4:20am), and then do part of their rides with them, peeling off to be home by 6am. I imagine I'll still have to be home by 6am in future.

Agteros, I live in Randpark (not Randpark Ridge) and I would be interested. Not sure about every week! My neighbour is a fanatic rider and often rides. He is super strong and I know he does ride with others. I am a 26km/hr rider - maybe 27 at a push (or in a week or three).

But yes, I would be interested! Might have to motivate myself a bit to get up that early - eish!

What route? Not sure what E2E means.

General vacinity is fine, cannot ask for a ride that starts/stops on my doorstep, hey?

do not know the safe routes, nor the general training routes available - hoping to link in with existing groups to figure what is what this side of town...

E2E -> The Engen 2 Engen group that leave at 4:50/5:00 weekday mornings from the Engen on Main St in Bryanston

ICG -> Illovo Cycling Group that leave at 5am from the McD/Garage in Rosebank

5am is not that bad, there is a running group in Boskruin that I used to join a while ago - but I am getting lazy prefer some cycling nowadays

E2E = Engen to Engen, a group ride starting and ending at Engen in Bryanston on Main Rd near to the William Nicole. Notorious for it racing snakes and red light jumpers.

I live in Malanshof, and would be interested. Wednesday and Friday suit me.

Hello chaps

I'm keen on a Randpark ride. I live in Fourways, but work in Honeydew so happy to have a ride @ 5 or so.

I have no idea what / if any routes are safe round here though.

I'm closer to 30/31km/h on my road bike but if I ride my hybrid 26 would be perfect :)

Cheers

Sjoe but you guys are fast :whistling:

I stay in Sundowner and I know exactly what you struggling with, ive given up looking for roadies riding out our way in the mornings as for some reason there is no one that rides there or know any routes, but if you look on strava there is a k@k load of segments around us. (I will confess I do know more MTB trails out our way than road)

Im currently doing E2E on Wednesdays and Fridays, home-Engen-Engen-home Start 4:15 ends 6:30 home - 65km.

So it would be nice to get a 50-60km loop locally.

I live in the area and have seen quite a few cyclists out and about. The paths are not great though and on my own rides I find myself praying that I dont get rear ended. I ride in the late afternoon.

My rides are casual and whenever or wherever. Maybe we can make a plan for next year. Am going away soon so will not be riding much for the rest of 2013.
