The strider is bulletproof and a monkey can set it up/make adjustments without tools. I weigh 79kg and I have cruised around on it.

The Strider Bikes are considerably strong little bikes. They are only intended to take up to 27Kg,s with the standard wheels, however I have put them through their paces over the last nearly two years and done some seriously silly things with them, that mostly caused me to buy new tires and tubes. I have not broken one yet.

launching in March

My little dude is now 5months, but that is what I am gonna get him for his first B-day. That Alu one looks great (and hardcore with the knobbies). At 1 year he wont be able to ride it yet, but a couple of months on I am sure he will be burning the trails (or garden, corridor, whatever)

Have a look at the Weeride First Bike - nice step through design and 10" wheels, so they can start earlier... http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/weeride-first-bike-1.html

jip also loving the Alu version...

looking to get my soon to be two-year old a balance bike so gathering as much info as possible

at this stage what looks to be important is weight, air wheels, comfy saddle, protected nuts/thread, not so much the break (until about 4 or 5)
