The remote is the shizzle. No scratching your head before and after every run. It also helps save battery cos when the camera is on standby it chows almost as fast as when you are filming.

My apologies, it was $399 - the USD/ZAR exchange at the time converted it to R3399. Still a bargain!!

I see it does not include the remote. It may be better to go for the black edition which has the remote and more mounts.

And better resolution formats available for recording - providing you have a PC/Mac that can process the larger files
