Quick Release for fork mounted bike carrier

What would be the best option for a quick release on a bike carrier that mounts on the fork.

 

Can i simply use a skewer or is there a specific quick release available.

I have two of these which I have bolted to a piece of plastic timber. I use it to transport our bikes on the back of the bakkie. Works very well. The plastic timber slots into two brackets that were already in the load bin.

A bog standard skewer will do the job. Thule make one for their racks that gets past the lawyers' lip on the fork without having to unscrew it, but I don't know if it's retrofittable to any rack - you'd have to ask someone that sells them - Stirling at Revolution in CT should have the answer for you.

hang on lemme go find the pic of what we did.. you could adapt it to work for the bin of a bakkie

Hubby kitted out this trailer thing and used quick releases for the shocks and these funny bad ass velcro thingies for the back wheels.. you could maybe adjust it to fit in bin of bakkie
