Hi there.

Just viewed my on line trainer thing of Polar. Saw that my cadence meter gave a very sporadic reading. I thought that it didn't work but saw that a few times it did send a reading to the unit. And no. I wasn't walking that much (or was I walking that much?)

Now the question: Who do I fix the problem. I can't move it forward. And it is not even a year old. Any help would do.

Yours truly

Another gatvol Polar abuser.

Used to have a similar problem.  Found eventually that the little magnet and the sensor should align properly.  Never had a problem since.  Could be battery as well.

well, could be the battery of the cadence unit, could be the distance between your watch and the cadence sensor is too far, could be your magnet is too far or not being read properly by the sensor, could be you are freewheeling = no cadence.

call polar 0118051028 for further assistance.

My Polar nightmare this weekend was at the start of the ride for sight. as the gun went, pushed the red button, and the watch froze up (hung)

cadence was stuck on 100, heartrate on 40, lap counter read 0and an upside down "F" , and no amount of tapping or button pushing got it unfrozen.

Took it to poalr in midrand on monday, but they just pushed the reset button, and said they couldn't find anything wrong.

Sucks when you dont have your readouts while racing though.

I don't use the unit at all while training or racing.  I just use the data after the ride.  And it canda sucks.  From the time I took it from the smaller Giant I have had problems....

But will check tonight to make sure it is close enough.  If all else fails I wil have to take it in for repairs.

Cois, Check for alignment marks on the pickup. Allign the centre of the magnet to either one of the markings and not between them. The specs on most cadence sensors is a distance of no more than 3cm between the magnet and the sensor.

Just got back from Polar where I took my watch and everything in for a service.

Got a new watch case as mine was severely scratched and an new HR belt.

Cois, stopping pedaling will give you a sporadic reading. If you want a constant reading you have to keep on pedalingLOL

Jokes aside, also gatvol with my Polar, especially that piece of junk strap it comes with, coded se voet!

Just be glad you don't have a Garmin!  PokerFace took his along for the Paarl ride on Sunday and the thing just would not switch on.  He ended up being the only one who did not have stats and when he got home, voila, it worked!!!

Technology.  How did we ever live without it?  Which reminds me: I'M GETTING MY POLAR POWER METER TODAY!!!!

On the Polar cadence sensor the distance should be no more than 4mm between magnet and sensor. When cadence dosn't work it isually distance from the main unit, particularl on a crbon frame (no more than 80cm's).
