Keen to ride the spruit for the first time tomorrow morning. Can one park by Witkoppen, near The Bike Basement in the parking lot and get onto the spruit from there?

How far can one ride without getting lost?(if it is possible to get lost on the spruit).

Saw from previous threads a lot ride from Fratellis. Wouldn't know where to go from there?

Hi Bra B

A lot of people park at the Cambridge Shopping Centre and then ride East along Witkoppen until the trail starts. You pick up the trail after you cross over the low water bridge. The Henley Management College is on your left as you head along the river towards Jhbg. Proceed under the freeway, look out for vagrants. Cross through the river on to the right hand side of the river and you will follow the path for a few miles. You can't really get lost.

PM me and I will give you some alternative parking arrangement, etc. I live close by and can assist depending upon the time you plan to go riding.

Yes you can. You enter the spruit on the Bike Basement side. You will go under the N1 and then you will cross the spruit. There is a well ridden out path. The crossing is not very deep and if it does not rain tonight you can cross without getting your feet wet. From there you just follow the path and you will soon go under 12 th road. You can not get lost.

I was hoping that this thread included a steamy story of how two innocent MTBers met on a bend and had the time of their lives!

Always disappointed

Sorry mate, I am happily married. Just trying to help. The Spruit gets such a bad rap, being riding the Spruit without problems since the 80's.

Take your wife with you to the spruit... then you can start a thread about it!!!
