Cascades, Karkloof, Howick...

A bunch of us are heading down again next week. Karkloof Enduro :D

Sigh. .. I am envious.

Told hubby next time we get a gap we must go spend a week riding Karkloof. This past week riding giba was so nice.

Rode at Giba yesterday.

Was an awesome day out. Great trails, very steep, awesome singletrack descents.

I just wonder how much more development will occur before the gorge loses the magic it has?

Pity the landscape is so scarred now.

this enduro route.. it says 120mm travel bikes. how realistic is that?

Yes it is very realistic! ...

Myself and some of the other downhillers built it.

There are 1 or 2 jumps but you can go around them!

There are a good couple of steep sections where we have put in B-lines that are tight but not as steep.

The main thing with the trail is the gradient .. Its properly steep - so you either need to drop your seat or have a dropper post. It can be done with your seat up - but its just uncomfortable

Lol my husband has 100m travel and does fine on that enduro bit, we rode part of it the other day, I have 120mm travel so I am covered ha ha

Hey Gen ... I think you are thinking of a different trail ... the Enduro line that is mentioned in the Giba website is not part of any of the main trail network - it starts next to the DH and is only accessible by riding down the tar road at the top away from the park.

You are most likely thinking of Gravity Dice with the tabletops ... that is part of the Blue route.

Unless you get someone to show you where the start of the Enduro section is you will not find it as it has no trails leading up to it.

Problem with Go PRo's is that it never does the gradient any justice. That enduro trail is steep.

The off-camber down the bank is big, and that section through the trees before you cross the road is Steeeeep !

I had that problem. I thought my recovery after surgery was going well and I would enter the DH round at Giba that used the "Enduro" trail after watching the GoPro footage that Nige put up. You need to edit your post. Please add a VERY in front of all the steeps....

I agree with Mr. Hicks on 120mm travel being realistic, your head angle is more critical. 120mm with a 68 degree head angle and your set

Cool pics !

Did Mark have a camera crew following him around :D

hahahahaha

I think he does every time he swings his leg over his surf board or his bikes. hahahaha

But they give a good representation of what Giba has to offer outside of the standard run-of-the-mill Blue route Green route and Purple route where the trails are groomed to perfection for you riding convenience ... hahaha

Ja. For those watching the video you have to imagine that it's all happening on this 45 degree slope. I battled to walk down most sections.

Hi Hubbers. I am going to PMB/Durban in two weeks time. Will have to work during the day but was hoping to get some riding done. We are staying at Kloof (close to Krantzkloof NR) and thought I will be able to go to Giba, but now see that they close at 5, but members have 24hour access. Does anybody know where I can get some riding done in the afternoons, or can I ride at Giba after 5? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
