'hamster Posted January 6, 2014 Share Hi hubbers could you please help me check which model this is? or a rough idea what you will pay for it? It is in good nick but seems to be an oldish model. The guy wants R5500, but I'm not sure whether that's reasonable? ThanksEustace
Tumbleweed Posted January 6, 2014 Share It's pre-2009. Can't see the components, but I reckon R5500 might be a bit steep.
quintonb Posted January 6, 2014 Share Looks like either a CAD 2 or CAD 3, CAAD 4 and onwards had the curved seat-stays.Also cant really see what components it has on, judging by the wheels looks fairly entry level, maybe Tiagra.I reckon R5500 is a bit much if so. jdvisagie Posted January 6, 2014 Share That's a CAAD4 frame.... R5.5k IMHO is too much... Depends on condition, but looking at components and being a CAAD 4 (up to 10 years old), I'd say R4k is closer to a fair price....
the nerd Posted January 6, 2014 Share Looks like a CAAD 5 maybe, i have one similar. Cant see the components...
'hamster Posted January 6, 2014 Share Wow guys thanks for the quick replies, all components seem to be Shimano Tiagra. I did have a sneaky suspicion that it's a bit old and entry level. Thanks again!! much appreciated guys!
Spinnekop Posted January 6, 2014 Share CAAD 4. (External headset)The CAAD5 had an internal headsetCAAD3 had the straight seatstays if I remember correctly. Looks like very old 105 components. Octalink cranks. Not more that say R3500 quintonb
quintonb Posted January 6, 2014 Share If you can get it for a good price its a great frame. You can never go wrong with a Cannondale, their aluminium frames are brilliant.Maybe see if you can get the guy down to a fair price.

NixM Posted January 6, 2014 Share OMG, I think that's my old bike!If the seller is in Cape Town then it must be mine with 8 speed tiagra, I had it built up with tiagra, the wheels are my partners old wheels and the saddle belonged to an ex boyfriend.. Sold it about 3 years ago on Gumtree for about R4000 if I remember correctly. Damn I miss that bike - upgraded to carbon with Dura ace but still think about that bike often. Agreed. But it looks like this bike has "curved stays"? (Hourglass stays) Picture looks like it.......

Spinnekop Posted January 6, 2014 Share Straight stays. CAAD3 then. WAY to much for sure.R2500-R3000 This is a bike you are going to use as a training bike or build from the bottom....groupset is VERY old. Thus new everything except frame which means the amount you'll be paying is going to be fora "Training bike" of for a "Frame" if you are going to upgrade long term. the nerd
NixM Posted January 6, 2014 Share Yip that is def my old bike - Was built up at Bridge cycles in about 2003 with tiagra groupset - never replaced anything on it when I had it. wheels came off my partners scott probably about the same age as the bike. I LOVED that frame, get him to drop his price and upgrade the drivetrain and wheels, you wont regret it.
quintonb Posted January 6, 2014 Share Yeah CAD 3 for sure.I ride a 15 year old CAD 3, have had it repainted.I weigh just over 90kg's and its never given me any hassles.Rode a sub 3hr Amashova on it.I am running Ultegra 10 speed on it. They great frames, worth it if you can get for a good price. Edited January 6, 2014 by quintonb
