With Speed Services striking, getting the watch to Midrand will now cost me R180 one way! If only Polar had a local workshop...

Can you see your training data in "your diary" is it being recorded and saved?

When last did u try connect / upload, maybe just wait another day...givethe little polar fairies time to short themselves out after a heavy weekend of vodka binging?

The watch has recorded everything, no problems there. It's just not making contact with the (any) pc. Can only be a contact issue. The contacts are super clean and the cable is always in my drawer when not in use, so it might be a hardware (watch) issue.

I have uploaded exercises this morning but have also had the issue. Restarting the Polar Flow app sorted it out for me...

Yes, thanks for asking. I should have it back today. It's happened before, something to do with the charging contacts on the inside of the watch. They're replacing the back and it apparently now comes with a cover for the external contact/charging points. I'll see when it get's here.

The V800 was delivered at my home and my daughter sent me a picture. It's the same as before, so I phoned Polar. Turns out the new parts will only be available at a later stage, but I was the "one in a million" it happened to. Nothing I did, and nothing I can do to prevent it from happening again, cause it shouldn't.

To be fair, I AM the one this type of thing will happen to (Murphy's laws are all about me), so don't stress too much about your V800.

I just wish they designed it to use a normal micro USB like the new M400. Replacing that fancy V800 cable is not going to be cheap...

Being a practical logic thinking type :whistling: whose wrist sweats almost as much as my forehead i often wonder why polar went this route with the v800, we can easily clean the external contacts but what about the internal bits that cannot be reached with every day cleaning?

In their defence so far 4+ months of sweating and the contact points are still working.

I wonder about people who might use it frequently in a humid sea enviroment i.e. swim / paddle in the sea regularily...all that salt water (like my sweat...) cannot do those open contacts any good.

TBH I'm not convinced that a cover will do the trick either.... sorry for being the professor of doom

You complain even more than I do ... :P

There are three levels of activity that you can choose under Diary>Activity Summary>Daily activity Goal (bottom of the screen right)

Your daily activity goal is determined by the activity level you have chosen (Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3). High, medium and low intensity activity, such as jogging, walking and household chores, respectively, all contribute to reaching your daily activity goal.

Durations for activities are the same for people of all ages, men and women. However, age and gender affect the intensity you need to reach your Daily activity goal. The younger you are, the more intense your activity needs to be, and men require higher intensity activities to reach their goal than women.

The goal is based on the average fitness level of people of certain age and gender. If it seems to you that your daily activity goal is very easy to reach you can change your activity level choice. This way you’ll get a more demanding daily activity goal.

LEVEL 1

If your day includes only a little sports and a lot of sitting, commuting by car or public transport and so on, we recommend you pick this activity level.

LEVEL 2

If you spend most of your day on your feet, perhaps due to the type of work you do or your daily chores, this is the right activity level for you.

LEVEL 3

If your work is physically demanding, you’re into sports or otherwise tend to be on the move and active, this is the activity level for you.

This takes into account your movement (steps) etc. so normal activity and your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and then also training.

I do however agree that there needs to be a fourth setting for a "Free" mode as it is way too easy to reach these activity goals.  I have just done a floor session at the gym this morning burning 791kCal and then been up since 4 etc. and I am set to a level 3 (highest) and already I am on 119%.

On high intensity training days (MTB, Trail Run etc.) I can get up to around 400% !!

So maybe #PolarGlobal can look into this.

I agree they need more levels or options, none of the 3 they offer fit my profile. I generally sit a helluva a lot each day being an office jock who uses public transport BUT I do a fair amount of exercise after work. Level 1 sums me up except that according to those settings and the exercise I do I sometimes get up to 400% and almost always go over 100%, which is not a true reflection imo.

Polar say they are using a global formula for the activity calculations, which is fine if you are the average non sporting person imo but if you are sports inclined i.e. do more than the global recommended daily amount of exercise (which is not much) then you are going to hit 100% easy.

I changed my level to 3 (the highest level possible) this morning when I woke up, then went for a slow 5.5 km jog, stretched, showered, breakfast and a 10 minute stroll (looking for lost golf balls :whistling:)  after breakfast and have already reached 78%.

Really glad to see that they have got the swim function (pool options) now available.

Have not tried the pool options yet but I see it lets you set up just about any length from 20 m upwards. This is set on the watch settings, pool swim, pool length.

I also got the impression that the open water swim gps is working slightly better. Although it might also be because I stop ever few minutes and raise the watch out of the water long enough to get a signal. Going to try test the gps later today just swimming and not waiting for it find the satellites and see how well it works...or not.
