American Classic Carbon wheels going CLICK CLICK CLICK.

My AMC Series 3 Carbon wheel (front) has suddenly developed a very annoying clicking sound.

It is quiet at slow (walking pace) speed, but starts clicking as soon as speed builds.

I have checked the tyre (Vittoria Rubino tubby) for anything embedded in it, there is no loose spokes, the valve extender is tight and does not move around, greased the QR, checked that the QR is tight (but not overly so). The clicking sound does not increase in tempo as the speed builds, but does get louder.

Swopping over to my Sprint 350, the sound disapears, so it's not on my bike, but the wheel itself.

I'm at wits end, what else can I look for? It's damn frustrating riding with this racket in my ears.

check you bearing load adjustment if there is on those wheels. Had clicking once on my Mavic Ultimates even went as far and complete service new bearings etc. and all it was the Bearing load and skewers were adjusted to tight.

I had a similar problem on a shimano wheel. I noticed that it only clicked when I stood and pedalled. My logic told me that each time I stood, the extra weight on the front wheel caused the spokes to "bend outwards" and the magnet on the speedo would touch the pick up. I adjusted the distance on the magnet by 2 or so mm and the sound disappeared.

You could have a similar problem.

No magnet, using Garmin Edge. Checked for brake cable end hitting wheel / spoke etc. All is clear. If it was something hitting the wheel, the tempo of the clicking will increase with the speed. This does not, it gets slightly louder the faster you goes.

With my other wheelset fitted, all is quiet.

I've been meaning to pop in here for the past 20 minutes (been sorting out another thread), thinking this was another Hub-political-thread about to go south...

Thought it was "ANC wheels going click click click..."

Good luck sorting it out.
