RoboLuke Posted January 22, 2014 Share I have a SRAM X0 2x10 on my Scott Spark Pro. Is there any technical reason why I cant swap out the small blade for an even smaller one, and keep the big blade the same? Currently upfront I have :Sram Carbon S-2210 GXP PF, Carbon crankarm, 38Ax24A T The cassette is a Sram PG 1070, 11-36 T Just in case its relevant: Rear Derailleur Sram X.0 carbon long cage, 20 Speed Front Derailleur Sram X9, DM S3, dual pull
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted January 22, 2014 Share Yes. Generally speaking there is a max capacity ito the amount of teeth between the 2 blades.

V12man Posted January 22, 2014 Share The only technical reason is that it starts to shift unreliably - the accepter rull is 14 tooth difference is the maximum that works - I have the same setup as you, and would consider trying a 22 small ring - but have not found one to try - let me know if you find one. droo Posted January 23, 2014 Share Anything shorter than a 24/36 and you'll probably fall over cos you're going too slowly...
camelman Posted January 23, 2014 Share Also look at your derailleur. If it is a mid cage rear derailleur, it can only accommodate a certain differential between the 2 blade sizes. Consult the SRAM website to obtain the relevant chart: http://cdn.sram.com/cdn/farfuture/LJH1vaSvuSBBt_2FVIDwRbfJHuO0kaLua0Kk5NdI_jw/mtime:1372788174/sites/default/files/techdocs/gen.0000000004184_rev_a_compatibility_map_my13_mtb_components_0.pdf Front derailleur, depending on the mounting type could present a problem if you bring both blades down by 2 teeth. Just double check it all before you purchase. Good luck RoboLuke
