I am looking at getting the Tork Bicycle Repair Stand, does anyone have one and if you do are you happy with it? Or is there something else in the same price range <1K that's better?

I got mine late last week. I am only getting my bike at the end of the week, so I haven't put it to the test. This is the first repair stand I've ever used, so I don't have anything to compare to.

That being said, here's what I've noticed so far...

Legs - retractable for easy storage, seems very sturdy (using the "hold the pole at the top and pretend I'm churning butter" test). The feet fold in nicely for storage as well.

Bike clamp - seems a little bit cheap, the fastening lever is plastic, but should hold out for personal use. Looks like it shouldn't scratch the paint job (but that remains to be seen)

Tool tray - plastic, a little small, but will hold a few tools without problem. main tray has a magnet, held on to my allen keys nicely.

All and all, I think it is well built for the price. As stated previously, cannot comment on if there is anything better in this price range, but I think I'll be happy with it.

The rubbers on the bike grip tend to fall off , some silicone did the trick on mine .

Does it have to hold onto the bicycles frame, or can it hold it on the seat post?

Like so:

I've found that mine has to hold on to the frame. The holding clamp is too big even for a 31.6mm seatpost. I'm sure the Tork will be the same as the clamp seems to be identical.

Holding my bikes by the seat post with the Tork , no problem

I got mine last week also…to be honest when i opened the box i was well impressed with the stand..heavier than expected that meant good quality to me… stand is fantastic but… the clamp..i clamp my bike very tight but when turning the wheels the bike moves a lot actually…so I'm a little frustrated about the clamp. Also I'm not expecting this clamp to last long… imo. For the money and minor repair jobs it should somewhat put a smile on your face.

I got my bike on Friday. Also having the problem with the bike moving around alot... The plastic knobs feel cheap, and the plastic bits almost came off the clamp when I had my bike on an angle.

All in all, its good for the money... Thinking I might do some little mods on it here and there (or wait until any warranty expires then mod it...)

I bought one and the clamp just looked to weak when holding the bike on seat post, took it back the next day. Bought the Park Tool PCS12 from Rushsports for R1100 odd, cannot compare the quality.
