Me and some friends went for a ride in the spruit to go try out some of the

new bridges that went up in the last two weeks. Loads and loads of fun

the guys building there are really doing a great job! ClapClap Anyone know where I can get planks and wooden poles cheap/free?

Here is me riding a bridge and taking to drop off to the landing successfully :)

And here is me taking a drop off from about a waist high bridge not so

successfully :) hehehe all good fun

Hehe, was good fun.

Some serious cajones are needed for some of those drops-offs and jumps.

The North Shore stuff in Cedar Forest is magic and I'll be taking the next night ride through there.

Yes, Cedar Forrest. Just below the school field.

There is a very nice loop of North Shore bridges and a rollercoaster (still being built).

Really fun stuff.

Just after you cross JSmuts we built a bridge over the trench. About 500m down the trail there is a new rock to jump if you are brave. 50m later you will find a concrete ramp going up onto a fallen over tree trunk. Then just down the next steep hill is another rock ramp. We also built the ramps and boardwalks coming down the hill from Republic because the mud was almost unridable at one stage.

There were also quite a few ramps and skinny's developing down Bryanston way too over the past couple of months.

Pity I won't be able to ride it for a few months while my eye heals.

Your from the Joburg mountain bike club right? I heard they built the stuff your mentioning. The stuff in Delta Park "cedar forest" got put up by Mikes bikes and the rest by Kayn from the spinman list.

Yes, I ride and do maintenance with both JMBC and Swampdogs (closely affiliated to Mikes). Sucker I am :D

Swampdogs initiated the Spruit rejuvenation project with those bridges up to Albertsfarm.

cool stuff! Do you perhaps know where the clubs get the wood from?

I know for the recent JMBC stuff it mostly came from a volunteer donation.

What I'll do is PM you a contact email addy who has initiated most of the organising.
