In terms of the CPA the seller MUST make known any defects or known issues when selling anything used.

It's very unfortunate and I learned the hard way. I now video the inspection of the box if it appears like there's any shipping damage or poor handling, video the opening of the box and video the inspection of the item - all in one cut - that way I'm covered 100%.

In terms of the CPA you are only covered if the seller is selling an item in the "normal course of their business". ie, you are only covered if it is their main source of business. Someone selling something once off, or every now and then is not covered under the Act. When you're buying a single used item you better be prepared for 'voetstoets'.

All of this, and the OP doesn't even know what, if anything, is even wrong with the wheel. But he keeps on chucking a figure of R1600 out there.

You are missing my point. I want to have communication with the seller and I can't.

Wheel was send to the lbs and apparently the wheel hit a pothole and is opening up at one point.

Could you prove that it was in that condition when you bought it? All the original seller has to do is say it was fine when he shipped it. You ball.

Think when buying something expensive get friend or bike shop to check them out, did that when getting my wheels from cape town. Also in fairness to sellers one must inspect stuff when you get it, and raise issues immediately.

Absolutely

I sold an expensive Colnago frame recently and we arranged to meet at Robbie Gallinetti's Cycle Science where it could be inspected by Robbie before the deal was done.

Hang on here Zatek...

While I feel for you and it is a bit ***, aren't these the same wheels you've been trying to sell on these very classified? Or swap deals offered too?

Now, I'm pretty sure you never stated any of the problems you had in those ads... I dunno man...

I have often been asked by customers in the shop about buying second-hand online. I mostly suggest them coughing up an extra R200 or so to have a mini-service done at a shop, who can inspect the bike, to avoid future disappointment.
