Dont have the profile but its not that bad. Pretty undulating but trending uphill the first 40 and then turn around and return to the dam. A nice ride.

First 40km from Midmar to Notts - about 400m climbing I think... As chainsaw says, undulating but generally taking you uphill. Turn around and head back to Midmar - apparently this gets quite quick!

Extended weather forecast for the dam shows a pretty wet cold front arriving around midday. Since we're still a relatively long way off for now, forecast accuracy isn't great.

Entries close tomorrow so I'll leave it to the last minute before checking the weather again and making a call.

Awesome event, glad to see it back on the calender. Been around for about 15 or so years, possibly even longer.

Steady climb for the first 40km, quite a lot of tempo type climbs, no really massive mountains. Then turn around and all hell breaks loose at high sound there is little to no wind it's a super fast 40km. I am to be corrected but the record is around 1h 57 set by Jason Ormston and Aldon Baker back in the 90's....

So it's a fast race if the weather is good.

Burg wheelers put on a good event.

Just been checking the weather. Not looking too promising. Might be one entry fee down the tubes for me, Not gonna risk a wipe-out or getting sick just before Argus. Rather lose R170 than the R8K it's costing to get me and the missus to CT!

OK like I said earlier, as we get closer to the day, the weather forecast becomes more accurate.

Looking at the weather this morning, the expected arrival of the front is now moving away to later in the day. Looks like wind shifting at 11am with possible light rain only in the early evening.

Winds very light, so not an issue. For the early starters it will be a head wind going out and a tail wind coming back. For those still on the course at 11am it’s expecting to swing to a R-L gutter wind coming home.

All in all, looking like a nice day out on the bike

Look out for me. White Merida Scultura Evo DA with green tyres. If it's warm I'll have on a Spiderman top, if it's cool, a long-sleeve green, black and white Merida top. 40 - 49 age group.

Amped for tomorrow. This one just kinda snuck up on me. Looks like its gonna be a cool morning. Anyone have any clue as to total ascent in first 40km?

EDIT: Whoops I see the 400m comment now.
